Private by architecture

The relay moves the signal. It cannot read it.

Each endpoint encrypts and signs a transmission before it leaves. The relay stores public device certificates and routing records and may briefly buffer ciphertext—but private keys, pairing secrets, plaintext audio, and transcripts stay beyond its reach.

Is Transponder an AI assistant?

No. It is the voice link to an assistant already running on your Mac. Your existing assistant, account, and tools stay in control.

What stage is the beta in?

The hosted relay and new apps are built. Broad access remains gated while Sign in with Apple, push delivery, Watch lifecycle, and audio routing complete physical-device validation.

Does my Mac need Sign in with Apple?

No. Code and QR linking are the primary path, so a dedicated or less-trusted Mac does not need your iCloud account. Sign in with Apple on Mac is optional.

Can I remove a linked computer?

Yes. The iPhone owner can revoke a Mac. Revocation closes its relay access and removes its account credentials and pairing material while leaving its local audio history on that Mac.

What can the hosted relay see?

It processes public device certificates and the minimum routing, connection, and push-delivery metadata needed to operate. It cannot decrypt audio, read transcripts, or manufacture a valid signed transmission from one of your devices.

Does my Mac need to stay awake?

Yes. Your Mac does the assistant work, so the Companion must be running and the Mac must be available to respond.

Do I need Pebble Index?

No. Transponder works from iPhone and Apple Watch. Index is an optional third-party input for people who already use one.

Where does transcription happen?

On your Mac, through your own workflow. Transponder does not collect a readable transcript on its relay.

Which assistants are supported?

The first physical beta targets ChatGPT Voice through Transponder’s virtual audio devices. Other Mac assistant workflows are being evaluated and are not yet promised as validated integrations.
